Candace and I rode the same school bus from Lake Pointe to school. But many days I think someone gave her a ride. Can not say we were friends but did say "Hi" once and a while on the bus. I remember her wearing  black alot for some reason. I was away from home when she died in a car accident, my Mom told me a gal in my HS class had died. I believe her brother had died a year before. I remember being sad about her passing and how hard it must have been for her mother. I must have locked her name into my head because I was young and had not known many people of my age that had died. Over the years I have remember her during other times of lost having to to do with a young person. I hope she has found peace and that her mother found her peace too.

Candy and I were good friends and she always would get mad at her dad for writing checks to her spelled candance instead of candace.  We joked about that alot.  Her brother Michael died in a car accident on Memorial day weekend and she died in a car accident the same year on Labor day.  I'm sure it was difficult for her parents and siblings.  I also think about her every once in a while and miss her.

Candy was a good friend to Debbie Cooley, Shelley Siddall and I, when the three of us relocated from Detroit to Plymouth.  I’ll never forget where I was when I received the news about her accident--at the Wishy-Washy.  My mind just wouldn’t accept it at first.  She was the first friend I’d ever lost.  Our male friends stole an AAA “Bring ‘Em Back Alive” banner and hung it across the front of Schrader’s Funeral Home.  Some might have thought it disrespectful, but those who knew her well knew she would have loved it!  To this day, I still often think about Candy.
