Darryl was the one guy I always kept in touch with. Helping him with his cars when we both had no money. He was working at Chrysler, but finially got the R&D engineering job at FORD that he always wannted. Plus he learned how to fix a car engine. He had two great girls and a interesting relationship with the Jan the woman he loved. They separated more than once and finially divorced, but even then when I came to town they were together.
The last time I saw Willie & James Stoops. Darryl and I show up at thier house uninvited after a few hours at the Box Bar.
I came to his funeral, but I was in a little shock he was just short of his 50th birthday. Still today I miss him, sometimes even picking up the phone to call him out of a long but not forgotten habit.
Happly his girls and their families are doing well. May he continue to rest in peace.
Thanks, Barb, for posting those pics! I remember Darryl, too, and was really shocked & sad to hear that he had passed away several years ago. He was a good friend (& yes, I remember him & Bob coming to our house years ago) and was hoping we would see him again at the reunion--He will be missed!!!
I remember Darryl as a very understanding and good friend. For my 16th birthday party he gave me some lavender perfume. When I enjoy the secnt of that flower, I think of him I am so sorry that he is no longer with us.
I am not sure a ever saw Darryl wearing a wide tie. In fact, in the 35 years I knew him ties were not his thing. I think he wore a tie to the 5 year reunion. I believe it was the only reunion we went too. Bob Driscoll
